Fugazi - Repeater 12"

My friend Lucas was always trying to get me to listen to this album, and when I finally did they didn't do anything for me. But he kept persisting, putting them on in the background when we'd hang out and then all of a sudden one day it clicked. In a big way. All of a sudden of the hyperbole I'd been subjected to by him and others all made sense. In the next month I got the rest of their albums on CD and listened to little else for quite some time.

Everything about this record kicks arse. While they weren't experimenting with tones and textures as much as they would with subsequent albums like Red Medicine and The Argument, this is a fantastic guitar album. The rhythm section of Fugazi is also top notch, and it's a shame that in a lot of circles this is band is more discussed for their politics, as I reckon these people are missing out on some great tunes. Personal favourites would be Merchandise, Blueprint, Sieve-Fisted Find and Shut the Door, in case you were wondering.

We have this new on vinyl in stock for $18. Contact Tym Guitars for more info.

The Cramps - Kizmiaz 12" Single

Here's a band that needs no introduction. If you're unaware of their greatness ask Tim about them.
Either way this is a slightly more subdued track from Lux and co, but it rules nonetheless.

Released in 1986 on New Rose Records out of Paris, this 12" single also features the tracks Get Off The Road, and Give Me A Woman. All classic stuff from a classic band.

We have this in stock. Contact Tym Guitars for more info.

Killing Joke 12" Killing Joke

This was released in 1980 and was pretty unique at the time. It has of course become a "standard"sound now but back then this had a very abrasive noise somewhere between metal/goth and industrial/punk. It has of course been VERY influential on the music of those genre ever since. To be honest, it still sounds great today unlike a lot of other albums in this genre much younger.

The most "famous" song on this album is of course "The Wait" which was covered early on by Metallica on their Garage days EP, but this is a great album from start to finish. Killing Joke went on in the 80's to become one of the darlings of the Goth/industrial scene with songs like Eighties and Love Like Blood and have been recording ever since this album with 2 founding members Jaz Coleman and Geordie Walker. Billy Bragg 12" Workers Playtime

Those of you who know me know how much I LOVE this man. I think he's one of THE BEST songwriters ....... ever. This was released in 1988 and I think is still a GREAT album. Most people would know the single which was something different for Billy when you first heard it because it had ........... a band ! The Great Leap Forward is a satirical and insightful song about the joys of being in the music industry all wrapped up in a fantastic melody.

It has lots of other Billy Bragg gems like Must I Paint You a Picture, The Short Answer, Rotting on Remand and the Only One. Sure, gone is the spitting, biting vocals that the early albums had and here we have Billy "singing" with a band, but it shows once again that he can write a pop song as good as anyone and the politics is all still there. Tim

Nomeansno - Sex Mad 12"

One of Canada's best punk bands (if not the best) released this humdinger in 1987. Nice and fast punk, with splashes of jazz and prog rock (but in a good way). Great playing all over this gem.

While maybe not as good as Wrong, their finest hour, Sex Mad is still packed with classics like Dad...

We have this in stock 2nd Hand. Contact Tym Guitars for more info.

Flood repairs

Tym guitars is offering free quotes and cheaper repairs on guitars, amps and effects that were damaged by the recent Queensland floods. We understand that loosing band gear can be devastating and the added cost of repairing this gear on top of what else was lost may be too much for some musicians to afford.

If your electrical gear sustained ANY water damage DO NOT TURN IT ON OR USE IT. Guitars should have the string tension released and dried out ASAP. Take gear out of cases and dry out the instrument AND the case ASAP. Take ALL gear to an experienced repairer as soon as is possible as damage can still occur.

We will also do written appraisals for insurance at NO CHARGE.

The quicker we get our bands, venues and punters back out there and working, the better our scene will be.

Sunn O))) - Monoliths and Dimensions Double LP

2009 saw Sunn O))) release this, their most ambitious work thus far.

Over 4 songs Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley (with more guests than ever before) reach out in a bold continuation of their trademark sound. With the addition of a choir, more acoustic instruments and horns among other things this album tries a bunch of new things and succeeds.

If you haven't heard Sunn O))) before imagine stupid amounts of low-end travelling at glacial speeds. Or watch this....

The Damned 12"Light at the End of the Tunnel

This came out in '87 and is a "best of" double album by the mighty Damned. This has got it all.

Neat, Neat, Neat, Smash it up, Love song, New Rose right through to Eloise. I only saw these guys live once and they were AMAZING. Dave's voice is from heaven and the Captains guitar work influenced everyone along with Brian Jones. They had SO MANY line up changes it's almost impossible to keep track including Lemmy from Motorhead who's on the inside sleeve of this album along with a multitude of other band members.
They were the first British punk band to tour the US and helped inspire west coast hardcore. They were FAST back then thanks to seeing the Ramones at the Roundhouse and speeding everything up the next day, or so legend has it.

Black Flag - Jealous Again 12" EP

Black Flag's 2nd release (I think), this came out in 1980 and featured Ron Reyes from Redd Kross on vocals under the 'pen-name' Chavo Pederast. Five awesome bl'asts of punk rock right here.

Aside from the fantastic title track, the Chuck Dukowski-led 'You Bet We've Got Something Personal Against You!' written about ex-singer Keith Morris would be my fave.

Great stuff, and a year or two before Rollins arguably ruined everything....

Rocket from the Crypt 12" Paint as a Fragrance

This is RFTC's first record from '91 as is the only record recorded with the original lineup before the band got the horn section and was produced by Speedo.

This ones on Cargo records and has the insert drawing by Dean Reis.

The Meanies - BACK IN STOCK FOR A LIMITED TIME!!!

We've managed to wrangle a few more copies but as this is a limited run of 500 these might be the last copies we can get. It's a you-snooze-you-lose kinda situation. Get in quick!!!

We've also managed to get a couple more copies of the Scientists - Swampland double LP, similar deal, limited to 1000. Both on Bang! Records out of Spain.....

What a record ............... Man, I played this CD to death back in '93/94. I'm sure I really don't have to tell you about these guys. I loved the meanies so much and this was a kind of "best of" with such live classics as Darkside Of My Mind, Our New Planet, Big Bertha,  Mr Authority.......... the list goes ON and ON. What an album.

This is their classic album from 1993 released on vinyl for the very first time, ever. Deluxe gatefold sleeve, limited edition of 500 copies on 150 Gram.

The Jam 12" This is the Modern World

Released in '77 this was the second album by the Jam. It isn't as "urgent" as the first record but still has some great tunes.

This was a more "mature" album from Paul Weller and includes the Wilson Picket cover "In the Midnight Hour" showing Wellers love of soul that would later dominate his song writing. Tim.

This came out in '89 and what a GREAT cover of a GREAT song. I had friends who realized what a great band the Cure was from this cover. This copy is the UK only release with the etched B side.
